Saskatoon Transit detours start April 6 for College Drive construction
April 2, 2026 - 2:30 pm
- Phase 1: Stage 1A (April 6)
- Route 17: Detours via 14th Street and Cumberland Avenue
- Phase 1: Stage 1B (Late April)
- Route 16: Temporarily terminates at USask
- Alternate downtown routes: Routes 4/40s, 8, 6, and 19
- Route 17: Detours via 14th Street and Cumberland Avenue
- Routes 4/43/44/45/46: Continues downtown via Cumberland Avenue, 12th Street, and Broadway Avenue
- Route 517: Temporary shuttle service between Clarence Avenue and Place Riel via Cumberland and 12th Street
- Monday to Saturday: 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 08:00 to 18:30
- Route 16: Temporarily terminates at USask
- Phase 1: Stage 2 (Late June)
- Transit routes return to regular routing. Some stops will remain closed, but temporary stops will be added as needed
Starting Monday, April 6, Saskatoon Transit will temporarily adjust Route 17 due to construction along College Drive and into downtown. This work includes University Bridge arch repair, water main rehabilitation on 25th Street, and Link station construction for the new rapid transit system.
As projects progress, additional temporary adjustments to Routes 4/40s, 16, and 17 will be implemented. Riders should anticipate some delays during construction.
Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.

Join Saskatoon Transit to celebrate Transit Worker Appreciation Day on March 18

March 18 is Transit Worker Appreciation Day, a yearly occasion to recognize and thank all transit workers for their hard work and dedication in keeping Canada's public transit systems running.
Saskatoon Transit serves thousands of residents daily in all weather, thanks to the dedication of the entire team. From operators on the road to maintenance crews, planners, administration, and customer service staff, every member plays a key role in keeping our city moving.
The Saskatoon Transit management team proudly celebrates Transit Worker Appreciation Day and invites everyone to thank all the transit workers who connect our community.
You can participate by expressing gratitude to through acts of kindness, such as saying thank you, writing kind messages, or sharing positive experiences on social media using the hashtag #ThanksTransit.
While Transit Worker Appreciation Day is set to recognize transit workers, showing gratitude and appreciation for their hard work is encouraged throughout the year. Small acts of kindness and recognition can go a long way.

Saskatoon Transit spring service changes – Check your routes!

- Route 4 City Centre: Adjusted run times and increased frequency between the downtown and Nelson Rd/Lowe Rd weeknights and weekend service.
- Route 27 Silverspring: Improved frequency of service on weeknights and all day Saturday and Sunday to every 40 mins. Re-assigned evening service in Evergreen to Route 43.
- Route 43 Evergreen: Introduced weeknights service and weekends with extended service hours and more frequency.
- Route 44 Willowgrove and Route 45 Arbor Creek: Adjusted run times during weeknight and weekend service for more reliability.
Saskatoon Transit is implementing route changes in effect March 29, 2026 to improve overall network performance, better align with future Link rapid transit plans, and respond to ongoing schedule adherence challenges. Service changes are introduced four times each year.

Saskatoon Transit to launch new smart cards March 20

Starting March 20, Saskatoon Transit will improve customer convenience with the launch of new reloadable smart cards. These cards will integrate with the current Masabi mobile ticketing platform, allowing riders to tap their new card or device on the same validator.
This upgrade creates a unified fare system that aims to reduce boarding confusion, eliminate the need for multiple validators, and improve how customers purchase, manage, and use their fare products.
“This modernization improves convenience for riders today while aligning Saskatoon Transit with an industry-leading fare system,” says Mike Moellenbeck, Director of Saskatoon Transit. “By bringing smart cards and mobile ticketing together on one system, we’re making transit simpler, more flexible, and ready to support future payment options.”
New smart cards will be available for Adult, Senior, and High School riders and can be purchased or reloaded at the Transit Customer Service Centre and participating vendors. Cash will continue to be accepted onboard.
Customers with existing smart cards can swap them at the Transit Customer Service Centre and participating vendors to waive the $5 activation fee. To transfer remaining balances or fare products, visit the Transit Customer Service Centre. Current cards will be phased out by August 31, 2026, and must be scanned on the existing fare box until exchanged.
