Starting this fall, Saskatoon Transit and Access Transit buses will offer free child fare. We value your input and need your feedback to shape an implementation plan that makes public transit more affordable, accessible and inclusive for families and individuals in our community.
Many Canadian transit agencies, including the City of Regina in Fall 2022, now provide free fares for elementary-school-aged children. In November 2023, the Governance and Priorities Committee (GPC) resolved that the implementation of fare elimination for children be considered effective for September 2024. City Council will be presented with a comprehensive report in June 2024 that includes operational details and implementation plan information. The current transit fare for children between the ages of five and 13 is $2.25.
